Understand the importance of copyright and learn its history, from the Renaissance to the Internet, with this free online workshop.

If lost about copyright or wanting to learn more, and from a historical perspective, CISAC has a free online workshop for artists & creative professionals. They’re a global organisation that supports creators’ rights alongside collective management organisations.

Workshop Topics:

  1. Key events in the development of the concept of authorship and the legal framework for the protection of intellectual work.
  2. The impact of technology for the economic, political and social aspects of those key events.
  3. The process of harmonisation of the guiding principles of national legislations for the protection of creators and artistic work.
  4. The formation of associations through which creators fight for rights and build an operational structure to take care of these rights.
  5. The internationalisation of the legal framework and the inauguration of the first multilateral agreements for the protection of intellectual work.
  6. Changes in the international treaties to account for the technological development and its impact on creative activity.

Piyush Chauhan is an apple farmer from Simla with an immense interest in films of all sorts, especially, Hindi. He has reviewed Hollywood films in the past for a semi-trade film magazine. And is a certified mountaineer. In his spare time, which isn’t much these days, he imagines climbing the impossible mountains. He dreams of, someday, touching the peak of Everest on his own as well as of introducing himself to popular Indian cinema as an actor-producer.
