“All-round silliness creeps into the concoction, heightening the repulsion… One would have to be exceedingly generous or extraordinarily gullible to let the risible rationalizations foisted upon the audience pass without a squeak of disbelief, if not disdain.”

Saibal Chatterjee, NDTV
“Somewhere in there, in all the roiling and toiling, are the bones of a crackerjack thriller. But this loosely written season 2, bouncing in and out of a kidnapping drama, and the creation and search of a psychotic killer, gets mired in its own muddles, and ends up being plain preposterous.”
Shubhra Gupta, Indian Express
“Breathe is a fascinating, uneven experience… In time, I realised, my reaction to Breathe – mirroring a pendulum swing – was no different from the show itself, which, changing forms, sees identity as a multi-headed beast. We do contain multitudes but in the end this question of identity becomes a game, too. It becomes a matter of competing narratives, of what we show and what we hide. The world may seem daunting but, as the show hints, if we can save ourselves from ourselves, that’ll be more than enough.”
Tanul Thakur, The Wire
“Raavan’s many heads pop up as mythology and mental illness collide in a timeline traveling between past and present to divulge how the victims were culprits once. But the glaring loopholes and reckless reinforcing of irresponsible stereotypes cannot make sense of it all. Given the enormous time at everyone’s disposal, what IS mind-boggling is how little we learn about these people or their relationships.”

Sukanya Verma, Rediff
“The makers have to resort to all sorts of audiovisual gimmicks to compensate for the flatness in characters and actors. The series has a grey, smokey texture, which seems to be the de rigueur aesthetic for streaming platform thrillers. Besides manufactured suspense, there is nothing visually arresting in the show. Even the props, the body language of the evil and gory murders are trite and unimaginative.”
